Description
Trinidad is named after the beautiful 16th Century city of La Santisima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, which is situated on Cuba’s south coast.
Trinidad, as a Habano brand, dates back to 1969 but for many years, like Cohiba, it was made only for gifts to foreign diplomats. Not until 1998 was it released for general sale and then only in small quantities.
Trinidad first introduced the Robusto Extra vitola in 2003. It was one of three new sizes introduced to the standard portfolio that year and despite quickly attracting a devoted following, was withdrawn from the range just eight years later as part of a global brand strategy.
It is therefore an absolute treat for Habanos collectors and connoisseurs that the size makes a surprise cameo. As with the H. Upmann Magnum 56 Jars released earlier this year, the Trinidad Robusto Extra Travel Humidor was originally intended for sale exclusively in Travel Retail stores. However, due to the on-going pandemic and limited travel options, a small number of these stylish units were sanctioned by Habanos s.a. for release in domestic markets.
The original 2003 release was presented in SBN boxes of 12 cigars. However the elegant leather/cedar branded travel humidors house 14 cigars each boasting an additional foot band, making them particularly unique and collectable.
The Robusto Extra measures 6 1/8” (155mm) x 50 ring gauge and has been blended in the classic, medium bodied style of Trinidad.
